Environmental Compliance

PPC applications

We compile environmental permit applications for companies whose processes require PPC authorisation.  This means that the customer is able to continue operating legally.  During the application process, we are the liaison between the customer and the regulator (SEPA or EA).  It is an involved procedure and passing the responsibility to us ensures timely submission and avoids the need for the Operator to be tied down over an extended period.

License exemptions

We can apply for an exemption from licensing for you for certain prescribed activities.  If you are a manufacturer and your activity falls within certain categories, eg. if output is below a given threshold or it only involves certain materials.  Holding the exemption allows you to carry on with the activity and remain compliant.

Environmental Management System (EMS)

An EMS is now an essential part of many companies procedures and is often required by customers when you submit a bid.  We can compile a system for you either to ISO 14001 for larger organisations or something less comprehensive to meet the needs of the majority of organisations.  You will benefit by having a demonstrable system of procedures which increases your company’s credibility and your chances of success when bidding.

Environmental Risk Assessments (ERAs)

Risk assessments are required to address a variety of different situations but are usually used to set objectives and targets for improving environmental performance.  We are able to look at all aspects of your business and quantify the risk of each aspect.  This will result in a table of all the aspects of the business which have an impact on the environment, giving senior management a categorised summary of the potential risks with solutions to mitigate them.

Environmental Auditing of Sites

We will inspect your site or office and report back on where it falls short of the requirements of current environmental legislation.  The audit will systematically focus on each relevant piece of legislation as it affects your situation and report on any shortfalls found.  You then have a clear picture of where you may be at risk and the magnitude of that risk.  The audit report will generally make recommendations on how to mitigate the risks found.

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)

We can advise on all aspects of the EIA procedure, from initial definition and scoping with the local councils through to compiling and submitting the assessment, sometimes with assistance from specialist sub-contractors.  It is a prescriptive process and our customers have welcomed our understanding of the key points and the guidance which we can give, as it is not a process they regularly have to address.

Extraction licenses

Where groundwater is extracted by borehole or headpond, the environmental regulator requires that a license is issued to authorise it.  We can prepare the application and all the supporting documentation which usually involves a detailed understanding of the sub-surface installation and the process which uses the water.  You benefit by reducing your utilities costs while maintaining a good working relationship with the regulator.

We have strong relationships with SEPA and EA.

We take the headache out of environmental compliance. Our consulting services will help you navigate the legislative minefield.
